Bloom

Nine years of Bloom, in two forms: a culture-design consultancy helping purpose-driven organisations build cultures where people thrive — and a ~100-member, invite-only community where Thrivbe’s founder served on the board.

Bloom was two things at once. First, a consultancy: for nine years (2014–2023), Thrivbe’s founder ran Bloom as a distributed culture organisation with one purpose — designing cultures where people thrive. The work spanned adaptive team design, cultural design, innovation processes, organizational development, applied improvisation, experience design, and gamification, for challenging, inspiring, purpose-driven clients.

Second, a community: an invite-only group of around 100 people born from the Burning Man culture — leaders, doctors, therapists, teachers, meditators — with a vision to help people and society blossom through art and direct experience. From 2020 to 2023, Thrivbe’s founder served as board member and community coordinator of this non-profit. No bosses, no top-down management: a distributed community that organizes itself — and the field lab for convictions Thrivbe still operates on: communities can run on clear structures instead of heroes.

The consultancy — designing cultures where people thrive

Helping teams and organisations build creative self-confidence through designed processes: adaptive team design, innovation processes, organizational development, applied improvisation, and experience design for clients who aspire to deliver exceptional experiences to their own clients and colleagues.

The community — board member and collaboration infrastructure

As board member and community coordinator, communication systems, knowledge structures, and coordination rhythms for a volunteer community — designed so the organizing load spreads across many shoulders instead of burning out the few.

The Bloom platform

A purpose-built collaboration operating system for mission-driven teams: projects with SDG alignment and skill-matched teams, reusable project blueprints, kanban task boards with time tracking, threaded discussions, a shared calendar, a knowledge commons, habit and momentum tracking against the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and command-palette search across everything. Local-first and offline-friendly — built for communities, not for lock-in.
